 Sam knows that. He's known from the moment he met the hunter that Rhys is one of those people that can truly be depended on. And that was before all his other feelings for the hunter got mixed in. He's always cared about Rhys. Always known he was friendly, and loyal, and good, but now? Now he gets to express it with his body as well as his words.

"Stay with us," he murmurs against the man's lips. By us he really means me, but there's no denying that where Sam is, Dean is sure to be. He's already planning on getting his own room. That way, next time won't have to be rushed. They can spend time just enjoying each other.

At least Sam will have Rhys standing beside him for that conversation, if he wants it. The dark-haired witch has never worried about challenging the older Winchester, and for the sake of something he's truly willing to fight for, that goes double. Dean can sulk and bully all he wants, he won't get Rhys to back down, especially once he realizes how useful it is having a healer with them who can kill pain with a touch and doesn't use whiskey to sterilize wounds.

Rhys has more important things to think about now, though, and those deserve his full focus, like the way Sam arches and trembles under him and how increasingly difficult it's getting to hold back his own orgasm. He moves the bigger man's leg up to get just that right angle again, panting now and forehead pressed into his shoulder as he drives into him. "Close. Mm. God, Sam. Feel so good. Wanna see you come for me...My Sam..." Warm, dark, and possessive, he can't help saying it again, because it's proof that it's finally real.

The feel of Sam clenching around him, the way shakes with pleasure and the sheer beauty of his face as he's completely overwhelmed, is enough for Rhys, and it's only a few more strokes before he lets go himself with a low groan, free to reach his own climax now that Sam's had his. It's amazing, with Sam still shuddering and clinging underneath him as the orgasm rocks through him, and bright sparks of it crash through his aura, too, psychic overflow that leaves him trembling and panting as, a few seconds later, his thrusts slow and he gradually sinks down onto Sam. Even without using any of his magic, physical intensity combined with the emotional rush has him reeling, and he's completely content to just lay here, listening to Sam's heartbeat in the quiet as they both come down. Gentle touches in the peace afterward is enough- Rhys doesn't feel the need to say anything, either, just basks in the total comfort of it.

It's a little bit before he finally tilts his head up to smile at Sam and stroke his jaw lightly with his fingertips, dozy and still mostly resting on the bigger man's chest. "Mm. Hey, not too heavy, am I?" He smiles, voice a soft, satisfied murmur with them so close, laced with just a bit of smugness at how completely spent they both are.

Sam's whole body aches, but it's in the absolutely best of ways. If he had any choice, he wouldn't move from this spot. He's tired and sated and he's never been happier in his life. It doesn't hurt that he is finally with Rhys. Finally with the man he's been interested in for years.

"No," he assures, smiling softly. "No, you're perfect." His brother would absolutely kill him for being so sappy, but Sam can't bring himself to care. Not with the warmth of Rhys surrounding him. Filling him.

He chuckles, the sound rumbling through the both of them where they're pressed chest to chest. Rhys has absolutely no shame at all and will probably be terrible when it comes to embarrassing Dean with the affection he lavishes on Sam, now that he's free to. But he'll work out a way to win him over or at least, convince the older Winchester that he's too useful to 'accidentally' leave locked in a supply closet somewhere.

Rhys settles back down at Sam's reassurance, lingering in the smell of sweat and musk and the warmth of all that smooth, sleek skin. His head's still spinning, and his fingers drift over Sam's sides and arms as if to convince himself that this really happened. But it has, and things have changed now- and he's looking forward to what that means, even if they might have some talking to do. "Think that counts as the best mis-text ever." Midnight-blue eyes flick up toward Sam again through a lace of black lashes. Then, softer: "You really are amazing, y'know."

Sam can already feel that things have changed between them. While there were always subtle looks and smiles, now there were also gentle touches and closeness. Pressed so closely together, they're sharing the same air. It's intimate and personal and everything Sam's needed for as long as he can remember. He hasn't felt this way since....since Jessica.

Instead of responding to the quiet compliment, Sam lifts his head to gently kiss Rhys. It's a heady feeling knowing that he can do this now. There's no doubt between them any more. He can kiss Rhys whenever he wants and know that the other hunter will return the gesture.

The uncertainty is gone, that little bit of 'safe' space that they've always kept between them, and it's nice. Sam and Rhys have always worked well together, being the thoughtful types, this is just a natural extension of their complimentary natures. Relaxed, easy, no more barriers, and Sam can have someone with him to take care of him, to ground him and remind him of the good things beyond endless miles on the road and the next hunt.

Rhys purrs quietly into the kiss and smiles down at Sam, wriggling a little. This won't be a comfortable position for long, and with mild regret, he reaches down and gently pulls out, sliding his body sideways so that he's still half-slung on top of Sam and curled up under his arm. Even if falling asleep like this probably isn't a good idea right now, if they want to avoid giving Dean a real surprise when he gets back, they can still enjoy lingering for a bit longer.

Sam hadn't gone willingly into the hunting life. He'd been dragged in kicking and screaming. Jessica's death had given him a desire for vengeance, but even then he hadn't been hunting because he enjoyed it. Hunting with Rhys had changed that. He felt like he was truly doing good instead of just hunting evil. And that made all the difference in the world.

The younger Winchester gives a quiet groan as Rhys pulls out, body not quite ready for the change. But the hunter's body is a warm comfort at his side and he quickly forgets the brief pain. As comfortable as he is, he knows they can't afford a nap. Dean could walk through the door at any second, and even separated, it's obvious what they were just up to. "We should shower," he suggests.

And Rhys still, after more years than he liked to think of, maintained that he wasn't really a hunter. While he'd used a gun, while he'd fought, he was a healer, not a killer, and kept one foot outside the lifestyle as much as his talents allowed. He'd never be free of it, not with the demands of powers that would drive him insane if he didn't use them, but he could find a balance. And, just as importantly, help Sam find a balance, too, between the life inflicted on him and the life he wanted.

He rubs Sam's flank soothingly at the discomfort, just as reluctant to move, though he lifts his head after a moment. "Mm. Probably, yeah. Then I can steal your shirt like I said I would." He flashes a quick, wicked grin. Curling up together to sleep while warm and clean definitely has its appeal, too, and Dean walking in on them that way is much less of a problem. "Hot water in these places kinda sucks, though, so might want to share. Y'know. Conserve, right?"

Sam smiles at that. The mental image had barely left his head since he'd gotten Rhys' first text. As a relatively large man, he knows his clothes will dwarf his friend lover. And he really can't wait to see it.

So Sam pushes up off the bed, taking a second to stretch out his tensed muscles before he stands. There's no attempt to cover up. No trace of the shyness he'd been plagued by before tonight. He offers his hand to Rhys with a soft smile, more than happy to wash off the stickiness coating his skin from seat and come.

And there's something very appealing about being able to wrap up completely in the clothes of someone bigger, to smell Sam on them and feel that same sense of safety he gets from the man himself. Rhys won't be giving up that shirt easily, and Sam will have plenty of chances to see him in it.

Rhys watches him stretch appreciatively, enjoying the sight of all that long, lean muscle finally bared for him. And makes no secret of it, propped up lazily on one arm as he lounges on the bed. He accepts the hand up when it's offered, though, getting to his feet and only a little wobbly as he returns the smile. Shower, cleanup, and beer, maybe a nap, definitely sounds like an excellent plan. He pauses for just a moment to slide his hand around the small of Sam's back. "And, if y'want me to stay, I can. If it's better for me to head out, then I can start getting my stuff together, be ready to head out when you guys are."

A night together, even just sleeping fully clothed and curled up together, would be great. But he'll leave it up to what's comfortable for Sam, how he wants to handle things.

All of the good he's done over the course of his life must have finally earned him this. The chance to truly be happy with someone. Someone he doesn't have to hide from. Someone who knows all his flaws and secrets. Someone who can be at his side on a hunt instead of sitting helpless at home. Finally he's gotten his.

Sam doesn't even have to consider Rhys' offer. He doesn't think he could sleep alone tonight if he tried. "Stay," he murmurs, kissing down his neck as Rhys presses into his side. "We'll both head over tomorrow and get your stuff."

They might still have some talking to do yet, but...they'll have time for it. Rhys has a few secrets of his own that he owes Sam, things he deserves to know about Rhys if they're seriously going to do this, but it will be a matter of the right time and place to tell him.

Rhys grins up at Sam, relieved to hear that. He would have slipped out if it made things easier, but after this, he would much rather have the night with him, even just curled together in sleep and perfectly behaving themselves, and he gives a shiver as Sam's lips find his neck. "Mm. Okay. Talked me into it." He tips his head to the side in invitation, even if they should be at least trying to behave long enough to get cleaned and dressed, and gives a breathy laugh. "Just so y'know, though, I'm terrible about staying on my side of the bed." He peers up at the bigger hunter through his lashes, eyes glittering.

Sam laughs softly, pulling the empath into the bathroom with him. He feels downright giddy, and truly happy for the first time in a very long time. And it's all thanks to Rhys. They definitely do all have things to talk about, but right now, Sam is content to push all of that aside.

"I'll have to make due, I guess," he says with a put-upon sigh that's completely negated by his bright smile. "You should probably know that I'm a blanket hog." Not that that would matter if Rhys was right there next to him.

"You also sprawl," Rhys points out mock-solemnly. Proof that he's been paying an awful lot of attention on those occasional shared overnight hunts. Then he grins again, unable to keep the smile off his face. Just seeing Sam like this, so happy and...peaceful, that's it, like something's lit up in him, that makes it worth any small sacrifice they need to make to get this to work, any gestures to pacify Dean.

Which right now means getting showered up and dressed for some sleep (a very easy one, actually), and in Rhys's case, following through on his promise to show Sam just how good he looks in his flannel. "We'll just have to fight it out for territory, then. And no, I don't apologize for cheating. Gotta use every edge I've got here." He beams up at Sam, making a clear point of his size disadvantage.

Sam turns on the faucet, testing the water for a few moments before he pulls the lever and the showerhead sputters to life. They're in a pretty crappy motel, so there isn't much space in the shower, but that won't be much of a problem if they intend to be pressed close together. Which is exactly what Sam intends.

"How are you planning on cheating?" He asks, not sure whether the answer is going to be practical or sexual. Probably both, knowing Rhys. Without waiting for an answer, Sam draws the empath into the shower with him, the hot water wrapping them in a pocket of warmth.

It's just practical for them to share, especially with a limited amount of hot water, so Sam gets absolutely no arguments from Rhys, just an easy slide into the shower with him. They can be friendly and might even actually manage to get clean, especially still sated and buzzing.

Rhys tilts his head to peer up at Sam. Of course he's going to use every weapon at his disposal, but for now, he behaves, as he reaches for the soap. "Mmm, mostly a blatant disregard for personal space. Ever seen how a cat takes over a whole bed on you? I have an advanced degree in creeping. With a minor in human velcro." He stretches, luxuriating in the hot spray, then starts to lather up. Yes, given the invitation, Rhys may or may not be above trying to sneak into Sam's clothes while he's still wearing them, and he looks entirely too pleased at the prospect.

Sam laughs at that, opting for the shampoo while Rhys has the soap. He lathers it into his hair, humming softly as his nails scrape across his scalp. "I'm sure we can find a comfortable way to sleep," he murmurs, shifting his body so the hot water slowly rinses the suds from his hair. "And when we hit the next town, we can get a room with a king-sized bed." That way they can simultaneously sprawl and be pressed together.

Once his hair is shampoo-free, Sam switches places with Rhys so the other man can wash off while he smoothes the conditioner into his hair. He can't remember the last time he was this relaxed. This mellow. And he's willing to bet that it has more to do with Rhys himself than the sex.

"Mm, yeah, I think we can work something out. Negotiate if necessary." He sinks into the feel of Sam's hands in his hair, enough that he almost forgets what he was doing with the soap before he remembers and starts lathering up again. It's rare for him to trust someone enough to let them touch his hair freely, but once he does, it's the easiest shortcut to a dozy, happy Rhys, and Sam is one of the only people ever that would have an open invitation at any time to run his fingers through all that thick, black silk.

Rhys helpfully starts smoothing suds over both himself and Sam, enjoying the feel of warm, sleek muscle under his touch and at least mostly behaving, only occasionally leaning up to kiss away a stray ribbon of water. No matter how interesting shifting around in the narrow space to share the stream is...

It's good. And the thought that Sam will sleep better than he has in months, maybe years, makes something settle warm and calm in Rhys's chest. Just as much as the idea of curling up in the shelter of the big hunter's arms makes him feel grounded in a way he doesn't think he ever has. He smiles and just leans into the Sam for a second, still trying to get his head around the fact that this happened, that it's real. "Y'know I'm easy to keep happy." He plants a kiss on the lower edge of Sam's jaw. "Cheerful minion and all. But that definitely sounds like a plan. King-sized bed. Tie on the doorknob. Lotta making up for lost time to do, right?"

"Somehow, I get the feeling there won't need to be much negotiating," he murmurs, gently kissing his way down Rhys' neck. Chances are they'll climb into bed, curl into each other and be out like lights. Right now, Sam can't think of a better way to end his night. Except, maybe, Dean going home with someone for the night. It'll be much easier to explain things to his brother in the morning.

"We might have to take a week off hunting," he agrees. "A lot doesn't really cover it." They'd been dancing around each other for years. Now it was finally over.

He chuckles, reaching over to run a sudsy hand down Sam's back, grazing possessively just over the curve of his ass. "Think it's a good plan. Get everything in order, make up for a little lost time." Okay, so Rhys would actually have to get some of his equipment and belongings in order, the few that he actually had, but a lot more of that time? Bonding. And talking. And incredible amounts of sex, of course. That first time had been fantastic, being inside Sam and seeing his face, watching him move for him, but there was so much more that he wanted to do...and to let Sam do to him. They could just put a necktie on the motel room doorknob and leave it there for the whole week.

And curling up together for warm, safe sleep? That wasn't the least of it, either. For all his bravado and quick, cocky smiles, there was more than a small part of Rhys that wanted to be looked after, too. That appreciated Sam's strength, his loyalty, and his care...and just as much as Sam (and, okay, Rhys would admit it, Dean) needed someone to look after him, some nights, Rhys needed the same, just to be able to snuggle up against someone that he knew would look after him. And Sam? He was always safe with Sam there, he knew that down to his bones.

Sam tries for a scolding look, but it just ends up fond. "We're supposed to behave. In and out of the shower, no funny business." Although he knows there'd be no objection from him if Rhys did it again. The easy shift from friendship to more between them is a relief for the younger Winchester. Part of him had been so afraid that it would be awkward. But this is just a natural progression for them.

"A week might not be long enough," he muses. They had years to make up for. Sam doubts seven days will be enough time. But he also knows that they have responsibilities as hunters. A week is probably all they can spare.

If Sam wants him to behave, he'll be good, and he's perfectly happy just lingering like this, all teasing aside. "What? I'm behaving. Didn't say a word." See, completely innocent, as he starts soaping his way back up the bigger man's back again. Sam normally carries around so much tension, watching him relax into the scrubbing brings a smile to Rhys's face.

"A week's still a good start, though." Once they settle into a routine, they can have days for work, and nights for them. Or the other way around, depending on how their schedule falls. They can adapt. "And you got an extra set of hands now, right?" There's no way Rhys could ever pull off the Fed act, and he's practically useless with a gun, but he's a diligent researcher, open and friendly with people in general, and an experienced white witch. Not a bad thing to have around.

Bonus: he also gives great backrubs and makes fantastic pancakes. And the idea that he can be along, making Sam's life easier, his time on the road less of a burden...that starts something warm and satisfied in his chest, because Sam deserves some peace, some happiness, even if he can't let go of the job just yet. "Just have to mail off some of my junk, figure out what I need the most to come with me, and other than that? I'm all yours." He peers around and up at Sam in the narrow space of the shower, smiling.

And Sam does relax at the touch. He can't remember if there was a time he'd ever felt as relaxed as he does now. Rhys' touch does that for him. And when he truly thinks about it, Rhys' presence does that for him. Even being around the empath soothes Sam. It always had.

"The more the merrier," he agrees. Having more help could never be a bad thing, especially when he knows that they can trust Rhys implicitly. No awkward adjustment to someone new or a trial period to see if he can be trusted. Rhys had earned his place in their circle.

At Rhys' smile, Sam can't help leaning down to kiss him. He's so sweet and so genuine, and the Winchester can see himself falling hard given even just a bit of time.

Augh. And, yes, still here, just was away for a bit. -.-

Rhys is always careful with his powers around hunters by habit, but his care around Sam is even more than just normal caution: it's respect for the big man. From very early on, he'd wanted him to like him genuinely, with no question of influence.

So, exactly what Rhys is. Who he is. Easy smiles, warm touches, sly jokes, suggestive mis-texts, and nothing more. He's proved he can look after himself (or at least, be trusted to get out from underfoot when the shit hits the fan), he knows the business, and he knows the Winchesters. And, like them, he's driven by the genuine desire to help people: blood doesn't always tell.

They might be trying to behave, but he can't help but lean up to meet that kiss, press close under the warm spray and feel Sam's lips on his and his body strong and solid. As far as Rhys is concerned, they have all the time they need for Sam to be sure of how he feels. Part of this...part of all this...is patience, after all. Space, and understanding, and letting things go at whatever pace Sam needs. And, God, he just got off not that long ago, but the temptation's still there to just slide his way down to his knees right there, kissing his way Sam's body as he goes.

"Mmm, maybe not too much more, but I can at least be nice and share this much." He grins, all mischief and glittering blue eyes as he peers up. Mostly teasing, of course, but he still very much intends for nights to be all theirs with as few distractions as possible, when they can get away with it.
